IRET SPR-12 receiver: made by Tadiran?
By coincidence I found today an EBay (“Epay”) advertisement in which an ex IDF (Israeli Defence Force) SPR-12 receiver is for sale (2 - 12 MHz). The seller mentions that this particular set was built by Tadiran and suggests that the rx was in use by IDF. The IRET-logo is not on the front, but the interior is a 1:1 lookalike of my set. The 1000 dollar question is whether IRET was the principal constructor of the SPR-12 or Tadiran. Was it licensed built or just sold under another brandname; an intriguing question!
The price of the Tadiran SPR-12, $ 1600,— without batterybox, is a bit on the high side of the spectrum to put it mildly.. See pictures, but you can also look at the actual EBay advertisement.
