PRC 80

I condensatori cilindrici sono al tantalio liquido (non solido ossia di quelli che scoppiano) altro segno di qualità e che non si è badato al risparmio. Lo strano è che su alcuni di questi condensatori il valore è in chiaro ( 27 uF 10 % 20 V.....) mentre su quelli a standard MIL vi è stampato un numero (normalmente di 5 cifre) e per il valore bisogna consultare delle tabelle.
I "data code" degli integrati sono 1982-1983 quindi secondo le regole le schede sono state assemblate prima del 1985 (1983-1985).

Ho trovato la sua batteria funzionante e ho riacceso il portatile Prc 80 e usato nell ottobre test ........
Radio stupenda, l unica pecca è che per aprire lo squelch ci vuole in tx la nota a 150 hz.

Buongiorno Emanuele, sono ancora in alto mare con la scheda PS della mia PRC 80.
Non trovo nessuno disposto alla sostituzione dei componenti ed io non sono all'altezza di un intervento del genere.
C'é qualcuno del gruppo che vuol separarsi di questa apparecchiatura?
Mi piacerebbe ritirarla cosi' la mia PRC 80 potrà ritornare in funzione.
Fatemi gentilmente sapere.

Hello Michele,

I own a PRC80 with the same faulty PS Card as yours. To do a better service at the radio, I am working on a service cable to check the PS Card out of the radio. The hardest part is to find the green print connectors made by winchester connector.

The type coding for male print connector is: 600-1-17P

Type coding for female connector is: 600-1-17S

From time to time these connectors are available in brand new condition on ebay.

When cable is ready, I show picture here.

Hi John,
Many thanks for your reply, my PS card was not faulty and it worked great unfortunately I connected the radio to 24V !!
I have never found the wiring diagram and I have to change electronic components recommended by CROSEM friends.
Do you have some advice?
I wait for your connector photos.

Salve,

now the self made service card is ready and the first measurements are done. I found some voltages are missing and now it is time to dig further in the ciruitry.

I will open up new thread about the repair of PRC80.
